On Monday we met at 9 am at Ronsdorf Town Hall, where the German vice-headmaster welcomed us. Then we moved to getting to know the school. We had lunch at 12 am in the school canteen. In the afternoon we started the first workshop which cosisted in a questionnaire we had to answer, working in national groups speaking in English to the others. After school we moved to our partners' houses for a while, then at 7 pm we met again at the Brauhaus, a very special pub typical of Wuppertal.
Tuesday in Wuppertal started at 9 o'clock in the morning. We did a workshop which consisted in learning languages: Italian, Finnish, German and Esperanto. It was interesting and fun, because we could have a better knowledge about other countries and learn some new words. After that we had lunch in the school canteen as always. In the afternoon we should have done sports activities in the school gym, but due to the bad weather and the snow the school was closed. So we spent the rest of the day with our exchange students with the hope that the weather could be better the following day.
Because of the snow on Wednesday we could not got to the Witten's gym. We were supposed to play some beach volleyball and soccer, but we had to stay at school. So in the morning we had our third workshop and we were divided into three groups: "design", "music" and "on stage". The groups had to find out a good way to show the meaning of "Building Bridges". The design group had to show it creating something, the music one making a song in more than one language and the "on stage" one studying a little play. The groups were composed by Germans, Finnish and Italians and they had to work together unifying their ideas in order to gain a good job. But during out lunch we were told that the school would have been closed in the afternoon because of the snow. So we were sent home, had shopping downtown and met each other at another pub.
On Thursday the Comenius group went to Coogne to visit the Cathedral and the city. We all met at the Wuppertal station in the morning. The train journey took just 20 minutes and as soon as we arrived, we saw the impressive Cathedral. We were given a little time to take photos before visiting the monument in two different and international groups. The tour started from the outside, around the building, and then inside where we could watch the beautiful stained-glass windows. Then the group separated and so everyone spent time having lunch, doing shopping in the city and visiting museums like the chocolate one. During the afternoon all the students came back home at the time they liked. Some of them went to the pub in the night, come met each other or just rested waiting for the last day.
On Friday we met at school at 9 am. When we arrived we found a bus that took us to Witten to play beach soccer and volley. After fourty minutes we arrived and began to play. We did several challenges between Italy and Germany. Then we returned to school to have lunch in the canteen. After that we continued the stages we had begun on Wednesday: design, music and theatre. At 4 pm we returned home even if some people stayed there to finish their work. At 7 pm the Comenius night
started: bridges built were shown and the students who built the best one won a t-shirt. The music group sang a song. Unfortunately the theatre group did not perform because it did not have time to try the scene enough times. During the party s lot of photos were taken, everybody enjoyed theirselves a lot. Food was prepared by our partner's parents. The party finished at 9 and our German Friends took us to a kind of disco.
Saturday was the day of departure for guys who took part at the Comenius. We all got up early because we had to pack the suitcase. At 10 am we went to the airport with our host families. At 11:30 am we all gathered at the airport: we were sad because we had to say goodbye to our new German friends. After greetings, hugs, kisses and some tears we checked-in. We ate something and looked at the shops in te airport. At 2 pm we got into the plane. Some slept and others chatted or took photos. After reaching the airport of Bologna, we took our luggage and went home with our parents.
